About Me

I've spent most of my career working as an artist, producer and executive for companies including Disney and Nickelodeon, on films such as An American Tail, The Land Before Time, Hercules and Mulan, and TV series like Spongebob and Loud House.  

That's a fancy word for "love of books." Since as far back as I remember, I have been drawn to children's books. My first published book, Grasshopper Pie and Other Poems, came out in 2004, which led to a second career as a best-selling author of humorous poetry, picture books, and graphic novels, which have together sold about 2.5 million copies, gathering awards and media adaptation along the way.  Click on above pic for more about my books to date.

I currently live in Los Angeles with my wife, Nily, and a mini-labradoodle named Jonas, but I travel far and wide to share my love for children's books with grade schools all over the country.  My school visits are all about the fun of reading, writing, storytelling, and poetry.  Click on above pic for more about events.
